The weather un Saint-julie was promising this weekend. Sunny skies, no wind, august weather not having arrived yet. A good day to play rugby. Last week saw the women battle valiantly against SAB. It was up to the men to bring back wins to this field.
Alas, the thirds and seconds were not able to open thier season with wins. The thirds played against a well disciplined exiles strong firsts, missed tackles and showed the signs of a team which had not found their groove yet. The seconds were not much more successful against their Ottawa counterparts where again flow and physical contact were an issue. Both teams needing to focus on reducing giveaways and controlling possession in rucks.
The Irish did not finish the day empty handed though. The firsts showed us what we could really do. The first half saw a quick try tapped down by Dan Pelletier following a fantastic kick chase when the opposing 15 failed control the ball. The first half ended and the Irish leading with 3 tries to one.
The final score was in the area of 45-24 for the home team.
The women’s team were out of town in Quebec city. The FRQ champions were ready as always and our women team played hard but were unable to secure a win.
