Irish Girls Represent

MIRFC is proud to have 4 girls on the Caribou Senior Women. See story below;

The Caribou was very hopeful of improving upon past performances at the NWL championship, despite suffering some late injuries to key players, Gillian Florence, Marie-Eve Brindamour-Carignan, Claire Hortop and Kathleen Keller. One could say that the result against eventual finalist Ontario was not the start one could hope for, losing 43-0. But despite the devastating loss, our representatives regrouped and played an extremely physical and entertaining match against Alberta, eventually winning the bronze with a 18-17 score.

“We won the game by not working backwards from thinking about winning,” explained Quebec Captain Jocelyn Barrieau. “We did all the little things right and strung together 80 minutes of structured play and that was the difference”.

“This is the culmination of four years of hard work,” she continued . “This is such a great moment for Quebec rugby”.

British-Columbia won the gold by beating Ontario 34-22.
