Let’s play sevens!

The 2012 John Jones Montreal Sevens will take place on September 29th at the Montreal Irish ground in St Julie, QC (click here for directions). Proceeds from the tournament will go towards the John Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund which provides bursaries for up and coming rugby players pursuing post secondary education.

Saturday 29th September is the first Saturday following the Quebec Senior Championship Finals. So with XV’s over, it’s the perfect time to run out your Clubs Sevens Squad!

There will be local and international teams at this previous sold out event and a GOOD PARTY AFTERWARDS!!

Open Men’s Division: Saturday 29th September with Teams competing through a qualifying series before entering the knock-out stages for Trophies
Open Women’s Division: Saturday 29th September with Teams competing through a qualifying and finals series before entering the knock-out stages for Trophies

28th September - Welcome Party. Hurley’s Irish Pub, Crescent Street, Montreal
29th September – 8.30 am-17.30 pm-Men’s & Women’s Sevens.
30th September – Brunch special at McLean’s Downtown Pub

Breaking news………We are delighted to announce that The Belgium Barbarians sevens side will be attending to defend their 2011 Championship status! This is a selection of players from Belgium, but open also to other nationalities and while you may not get to, or even want to, play them, you will certainly enjoy seeing them perform. There are only Seven of them on the field at any given time although is sometimes feels like more! However, someone will get them eventually so why not make it your team this year?

On the Belgium Barbarians prior three visits to Montreal, John Jones was their prime contact and sponsor and in recognition of John’s efforts to help establish Seven-a-Side Rugby in Quebec the Barbarians wanted to come back again and show support for the 7’s Tournament in memory of John. Referees:
2012 Referees’ Panel.   Local, national and international referees are invited to participate in the John Jones Montreal Sevens.  We will shortly appoint a Panel Coordinator and prospective enquiries should be forwarded to the Organizers in the mean time
